Design & Process Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning & control of production activities to ensure availability of product, material flow and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules of the production lines.
  • Co-ordinate and implement the most efficient and cost-effective production methods required to manufacture hydraulic cylinders and components
  • Be familiar with production schedules so as to ensure all deadlines are met, and apply findings from analysis on production processes
  • Implement best practice standard work on the shop floor to improve safety and quality without compromising on efficiency
  • Review current manufacturing processes to identify and action continuous improvement opportunities
  • Identify bottlenecks within the manufacturing process and engage best practice lean manufacturing techniques to maximise process flow
  • Review and develop process documentation and safe operating instructions for all Ramko manufacturing processes and ensure adherence through regular audits of key processes
  • Co-ordinate and lead time studies to allow for accurate production planning and labour management
  • Conduct production layout reviews to ensure an effective process flow is maintained
  • Act as an advocate and coach on lean manufacturing techniques to members of the production team and support functions
  • Ensure ISO quality standards and requirements are met throughout the design and production processes.
  • Co-ordinate with production to establish and implement a containment strategy for manufacturing issues followed by effective root-cause analysis and follow through of agreed corrective actions
  • Analyse issues that arise from within operations and propose improvements where required
  • Act promptly to find long term solutions to manufacturing and equipment issues
  • Implement ECOs for manufacturing processes using and effective communication and record keeping techniques
  • Identify tooling and equipment aids to increase quality and efficiency levels and to allow Ramko’s manufacturing process to diversify enabling them to enter new customer markets
  • Understand products and customer specifications.
  • Source and buy specialised materials to meet production requirements; negotiate with suppliers to ensure best prices/services.
  • Read blueprints, schematic drawings and assembly drawings and develop design drawings, BOM’s and costings for projects.
  • Liaise closely and assist team leaders in relation to design requirements.
  • Work with Production in the design and development of new products
  • Ensure compliance throughout projects with all relevant specifications, quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Be fully competent in Solid Works
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the quality of the finished product.
  • Keep accurate records of R & D
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by management.
